X OF THE WEEK

drama, oh the drama.

Interesting interaction on X with a former Tesla employee that was essentially saying that the 2025 CEO Performance Award proposal would overcompensate him on the earlier tranches (not necessarily on all of them), which led to Elon responding:

TESLA NEWS

Tomorrow, October 22nd, is the Tesla Q3 earnings call. Wondering how much (or how little) we’re going to learn ahead of the large Shareholder Meeting on November 6th. Here are the questions on Say the Tesla shareholders have voted for to be asked on the earnings call.

Important — I’ll be tuning in, and if there is something breaking to learn from the Q3 earnings call, I’ll put together an “🚨 Insider Alert” email for all members so they’d have the latest info. As I mentioned above, today is the last day to join us at the lower price of $8/mo before it increases on midnight.

Vote if you haven’t. Deadline for voting on Tesla’s proposals for shareholders is Nov 5th for US investors, next week for some international ones — make sure you cast your vote, as Tesla being a heavily retail-owned stock, your vote really matters. Here is how to vote by Tesla.

  • 👆 Giga Texas rolls its 500,000th vehicle off the line, less than four years after opening the factory.

  • Tesla now doing some paid ads on Google for the new Model 3 and Model Y Standard. And advertising FSD in Australian airports. I also found that Tesla is advertising in Australia via a sponsored article on CarExpert that pitches fleet electrification to small and medium businesses.

  • Tesla is hosting a Halloween party called Frunk or Treat at its Diner on October 31st. The website says full capacity now.

“This invite-only event will include limited giveaways, treats and activities for kids. Enter our frunk decoration contest with your most creative design for the chance to win a prize.”

  • Healthcare workers in the US can now get a $500 discount toward any new Tesla vehicle purchase. $1,000 CAD discount for those in Canada.

  • Tesla just lowered lease pricing by 23% for M3 (now at $329/mo), by 15% for Model Y (now at $449/mo), and by 7% for Cybertruck, now at $699/mo. Tesla says prices increase in November.

  • Tesla held their annual employee Halloween event, which had themed cars, such as this Cybercab Halloween deco:

Here’s another submission for the Frunk or Treat contest in Tesla Austin — Cybertruck Ghostbusters

  • Tesla has released a Lil' Bot Onesie for $55 in the Tesla Shop:

TESLA MODELS

Tesla Europe introduces Marine Blue for Model Y and Model Y Performance:

Franz von Holzhausen says the new Tesla Roadster unveil & demo is still on track for this year, in the Ride the Lightning podcast.

"The Roadster will be amazing car that looks at the limits of physics. We've really gotten to a point where we are going to be achieving that standard that we set out."

Franz also hinted at the new Roadster having its own complete unique set of paint options. "I'm excited to showcase the roadster for a lot of different reasons. The wait will be worth it."

He also said Pearl White Multi-Coat is historically the most popular Tesla color.

And on the MY Standard: "I think you get more than what you pay for. I think it feels more premium than the price point ($40k)."

Cybercab Lead Engineer Eric on the Cybercab with steering wheels & pedals.

Farzad has been banging on the drum of Tesla needing to add steering wheel & pedals and sell the cybercab with it for a while now. Looks like Eric finally broke the silence and says… no, I think?

followed by this:

While we’re on the topic of Cybercab, it seems Tesla is hiring new Cybercab Body Manufacturing Equipment Technicians. Might that mean we’re closer to mass production? The gigacastings have been pushed out of the factory for a while now.

Multiple Cybercab prototypes were also spotted at Giga Texas crash-testing facility, indicating final engineering validation stages ahead of 2026 production

The Las Vegas Metro Police Department has released a new teaser video of their 10-unit Cybertruck Police vehicle fleet, which will soon start patrolling the streets. Also, here's one of their recruitment ads:

FSD & ROBOTAXI & SOFTWARE

Tesla FSD V14.1.3 has started rolling out to the general public as of yesterday evening. This time also to some S/X owners.

Tesla sent out FSD V 14.1.2 and it features a 'Mad Max' mode, which "comes with higher speeds and more frequent lane changes than HURRY."

Also, the videos coming out of FSD V14 is just something wild to witness. Here is one of the ultimate bosses — a 2-hour drive in NYC (Manhattan). Zero interventions. This one was also reshared by both Ashok and Elon himself.

Here’s another video on how FSD V14.1.2 avoids an object in the road, then stops for a bus with flashing lights, keeps a safe distance (as required by law), waits for the kids to get off and for the bus to continue driving.

And here’s a video of 3 hours of driving to and around Boston on FSD V14.1.3, no interventions. By the way, the FSD V14 also performs the new windshield wiper feature, which Tesla says “added automatic narrow field washing to provide rapid and efficient front camera self-cleaning, and optimize aerodynamics wash at higher speed.”

Elon also confirms FSD V14.2 widespread rollout “in the next few weeks,” promising improved urban performance and more driver-selectable speed profiles. This is after AIDRIVR says “95% of the indecisive lane changes and braking have been fixed in FSD 14.1.2. I haven’t touched my steering wheel in two days. I think it’s time @Tesla_AI”

On Robotaxi, Jonathan Strokes is doing some very good research, mapping out the robotaxi timelines across 20 metro areas based on permits, Tesla’s job postings etc, and what we might expect happen next:

New software features

Tesla has released a new feature in its app called Tire Center, which helps you find the right tires for your vehicle. After selecting your tire size you’re presented with available options that can be purchased and installed by Tesla.

NotATeslaApp also discovered that Tesla is adding the ability for customers to remotely share their vehicle’s screen to help solve issues.

Tesla has a new recommended maintenance section in its app, and tells you what your car needs. It also shows you the estimated life remaining of each component, the estimated cost to replace and the date of expected replacement.

• Cabin Air Filter: 77% life remaining ($59)
• Wiper Blade: 55% remaining: ($133)
• Tire Rotation: 20% remaining ($65)

SUPERCHARGING & ENERGY

~80% of all fast charging energy in North America flows through Tesla Superchargers. And, Tesla Superchargers are ~30% cheaper $/kWh, despite having the largest site size (avg of 12 stalls) to shoulder peak travel days.

Tesla reaches 10k+ Supercharger stalls opened in California, with the latest opening in Baker, ready for LA → Las Vegas holiday travel. And the Baker site is quite a sight:

Some interesting stats on Tesla Energy dominating the UK megabattery market. No wonder it plans to start offering a tariff there soon…

Tesla Charging launched its Sessions/Stall/Day utilization graph, along with waiting time, which is now at its lowest since they started recording waiters! Doubling utilization while cutting the waiting time is quite wild to witness:

MUSKONOMY

The Boring Company:

Elon says when reposting a The Boring Company recent FSD test video: "The Tesla cars operating in The Boring Company tunnels under Las Vegas will be driverless in a month or two".

Also, I assume I should place it under TBC news here but I don’t really know — Russia asks Elon Musk to help build $65 billion tunnel linking Russia and Alaska. It would be called the "Putin-Trump Tunnel". And it's apparently not fake news.

SpaceX

In case you missed it, SpaceX Starship Flight 11 was a raging success — you can rewatch livestream from here or check SpaceX’s account for highlights. Starship successfully landed in ocean, but one of the highlights for me was how they literally suspended the Super Heavy booster in the air, hovering for moments before dropping it into the ocean.

SpaceX has now crossed 10,000 Starlink satellites launched to date. Starlink also plans free Wi-Fi for 5,000 South African schools.

Elon says that he thinks “Starship will end up doing the whole Moon mission. Mark my words.”

X & xAI

X launched a marketplace for X handles. Verified businesses can already access it, peasants like me are in the waitlist.

Elon must’ve seen something pretty cool recently, as he says: "My estimate of the probability of Grok 5 achieving AGI is now at 10% and rising"

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang's visit to Starbase, Texas this week to hand deliver a brand-new DGX Spark (the world’s smallest AI supercomputer — a petaflop of performance in a box that fits on a desk) to Elon Musk. Video here.

“Read & watched the videos. Not sure consumers are going to trust the 'glue' & 'pins' to save $$ approach. Particularly for those in Northwest, North Midwest & Northeast states where temperatures go from the 90's in the summers to -15 below in the winters. Garages generally are not heated & over time the question will be if that glue will 'breakdown'. It looks like the new Optimus received some new soft shoes. Just what Ai ordered :). I still think you should name the boxing & fighting Optimus's Rock'em & Sock'em for a trip down memory lane for us oldies.. Be well everyone!”

— … and I thought I was sending long emails to you. Just kidding, thanks E for the input, and while I do think Tesla has perfected the glue situation over time (remember Cybertruck cantrail), it does make you think…

Appreciate it, it took me quite a while to surface all the details there.
