TESLA SPACE 🤝 TOKYOPOP

The $60B Anime & Manga Boom is Finally Open to Investors

When people hear anime & manga, they think of cartoons and comics. But nowadays, they should be thinking of dollar signs.

The global anime and manga market’s worth $37B, projected to hit $60B by 2030. Which makes TOKYOPOP’s first investment opportunity for outside investors all the more exciting.

TOKYOPOP helped bring anime and manga to the West nearly 30 years ago. Fast forward to today, they’re generating $15M in annual revenue, have 100+ IPs in their portfolio, and distribution across 50+ countries.

They’ve got licensing rights to IP for Disney, Nintendo, Warner Bros., and more, and distribution locked down through Penguin, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and beyond. Now, they’re on a mission to find and scale the next breakout anime franchise.

X OF THE WEEK

… quite the milestone. 10B FSD (Supervised) miles driven, total.

TESLA NEWS

Joe Tegtmeyer found something mysterious at Giga Texas, under a cover & the wheels also masked off with white vinyl.

Pretty sure that’s a Model Y L right there.

WattEV has been running two Tesla Semis in their operations since last year.

Now, they've ordered 370 more.

Deliveries are expected to begin with 50 trucks in 2026, with the full fleet operational by end of 2027. More than 300 units will be deployed under a joint program with the Port of Oakland.

The deployment will be supported by a growing network of megawatt-class charging depots, including initial sites at the Port of Oakland and Fresno, with additional locations planned in Stockton and Sacramento.

In addition to WattEV, we’ve also found just this week that 40 Tesla Semis are now ordered by Big F Transport after demoing a unit, and 20 Tesla Semis were ordered by NICA Container Freight Line, focused on port drayage serving the Port of LA and Long Beach.

Watch tip: here’s an unedited interview Dan Priestley (head of Semi team) gave at the ACT Expo in Las Vegas, just now.

Quick round:

  • 🇺🇸 Tesla Model X and Model S are making waves in the U.S. used EV market: Model X is the fastest-selling used car in the U.S. auto market in March, averaging about 26 days on dealer lots versus 59 days for used cars overall, according to iSeeCars data.
At the same time, used Tesla Model S pricing has strengthened, rising 9.3% year-over-year even as broader used EV prices declined.

  • 🇸🇪 Tesla strikers in Sweden have been classified as “zero-taxpayers” after IF Metall corrected a tax error on strike compensation, leaving them without registered taxable income and cutting access to key social benefits.

  • 🇺🇸 Tesla topped S&P Global Mobility's February 2026 rankings for U.S. automotive brand loyalty, with 61.1% of owners returning for another. Second was Subaru with 60.5% and third Toyota with 59.9%

  • 🇨🇦 The cheapest-ever Model 3 (I think?) outside China was actually launched in Canada this weekend, starting at $39,490 CAD (~ US$29k). This is likely because they are now able to import the M3 from Giga Shanghai instead of the US, with the new relaxed Chinese EV import rules in Canada.

  • Tesla Semi carrying Cybercabs spotted:

  • 🇩🇪 Tesla has opened a new on-site recreational area called Giga Arena at its Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg, featuring two multi-purpose outdoor courts built by employees. The courts, designed for basketball and football, are located adjacent to the factory’s main production areas and are available to staff during breaks and after shifts. The launch was announced via Tesla’s Manufacturing account on X.

Tesla has been increasing its local engagement around Giga Berlin. The company has supported nearby sports organizations, including youth teams and the local handball club Grünheider SV, which recently received new team kits featuring Tesla branding:

  • Tesla says it sold $143 million worth of vehicles to SpaceX in 2025, according to a new SEC filing, and ~$100k worth through February 2026. These should be the Cybertrucks for SpaceX.

  • Video tip: Cybertruck going on a “casual stroll

  • 🇳🇱 Tesla Europe HQ held an event over the weekend in Amsterdam together with Optimus, Cybertruck, FSD test drives, and more, “to celebrate the launch of FSD Supervised in NL”.

ROBOTAXI, FSD & CHIPS

Here are the glossy (on the left) vs non-glossy Cybercabs shown on a @JoeTegtmeyer video. He says there were 40-50 Cybercabs on the site (today). And here’s one of those production version glossy Cybercabs seen on the streets (video)

Tesla is ending one-time FSD purchases across Europe on May 21, 2026. Only subscriptions after that.

Guess what that sounds like? Europe-wide FSD approvals, that’s what it is. (one can hope).

When using FSD and there’s a disengagement, you will now be asked what the reason for it was (Navigation / Preference / Discomfort / Critical), seen on this video.

FSD video from Europe: “Just look at how early on Tesla FSD Supervised actually saw that car coming. 🤯 It was just a few pixels through the trees and the car ready reacted.”

Also, Tesla owners in the Netherlands have already driven 10 million km (~6.2M miles) on FSD Supervised in under a month.

In Austin, they started operating Unsupervised robotaxis at night for the first time. Before this they ended the service in the afternoon on the Unsupervised ones.

There are now 22 + 5 + 6 unsupervised robotaxis recorded by robotaxitracker.com.

Teslascope has created a tool website for you to check whether their vast amount of data has spotted any updates from version X to version Y. If you’re an owner, you’ll likely get the benefit of this:

Tesla is hiring Data Labelers to annotate images and videos to train Optimus & autonomous systems. “You’ll work with real production data & directly impact how these systems learn and operate in the real world”

Leak from an incoming update: Tesla is creating a new feature that will give you an official, in-app certificate if your high-voltage battery is repaired or replaced, so you can easily prove its condition, which helps resale value and buyer confidence.

TESLA ENERGY

Tesla has launched its Semi Charging for Business program, offering Megacharger and Basecharger systems for fleet operators. It’s like the Supercharger for Business program, but Tesla Semi-sized.

Tesla provides design support, optional installation, and ongoing network services, including monitoring, pricing controls, maintenance, and driver support through its software platform.

The system is designed to support both small fleet depots and large-scale logistics hubs.

Tesla has also introduced its 125 kW Basecharger, a lower-cost charging solution designed for overnight and long-dwell charging of Tesla Semi fleets.

Positioned as “home charging” for heavy-duty vehicles, the Basecharger features a fully integrated design that removes the need for a separate AC-to-DC cabinet. This simplifies installation and reduces costs.

Tesla also allows up to three units to be daisy-chained on a single breaker, sharing 125 kVA to further improve deployment economics.

Pricing starts at $40,000 for two Basechargers and $188,000 for a Megacharger system with two posts, excluding taxes and installation.

New York is about to see its first-ever privately owned Tesla Supercharger site open.

Powerup EV Solutions announced that it has completed the first privately owned Tesla Supercharger site in New York, with 8 stalls, delivered turnkey for its new charging operator arm, EVIO Charging.

“Incredibly proud to be opening the first privately owned Tesla Supercharger in the Northeast. With more sites currently in development, this is just the beginning.”
— Jake Berdugo, Founder and CEO at Powerup EV Solutions and EVIO Charging

Tesla and bk World have already launched 5 charging lounges in France, and a few elsewhere. A lot more incoming. The latest site comes to the 28 Supercharging stalls in Dardilly, near Lyon.

Tesla has released a new video about their Megapack factory in Lathrop, California. They say they are now producing 200 Megapacks a week

MUSKONOMY

SpaceX/xAI has just announced that it has signed an agreement with Anthropic (you know, the company behind Claude) to provide access to its Colossus 1 supercomputer.

SpaceXAI and Anthropic have also “expressed interest in partnering to develop multiple gigawatts of orbital AI compute capacity”

This is interesting, as Elon has been very anti-Anthropic for a while. This seems to have changed:

On why doing it for a competitior:

Just as SpaceX launches hundreds of satellites for competitors with fair terms and pricing, we will provide compute to AI companies that are taking the right steps to ensure it is good for humanity.

We reserve the right to reclaim the compute if their AI engages in actions that harm humanity.

Doing our best to achieve a great future with amazing abundance for all.

We will make mistakes, as to err is human, but always take rapid action to address them.

— Elon Musk

And also, meet SpaceXAI

My question is… when SpaceXAITesla?

Neuralink

Neuralink showed a 2-min video of their surgical robot and had the team talk about it.

Boring Company

TBC announces the first residential Music City Loop station agreement, serving those living at the Prime, Alcove, and Paramount towers in downtown Nashville.

Residents will take an elevator directly to a Loop station within the building, board a Tesla, and be at the airport in ~9 minutes or Lower Broadway in ~2 minutes.

Holy frunk.

We got a 100.00% ratio of thumbs up from you last week. Thank you 🙏
Here’s a couple of your notes from last week:

T said:

“Some intelligent commentary and some truly fascinating stories, e.g. Tesla in the Sahara Desert”

— I’m glad you liked it & brought out the specific story, too. So many adventures in Teslas happening that we don’t actually know of!

R said:

“Looking for information on NeuraLink and its potential impact”

— Potential impact? Oh, nothing short of life-changing for everyone involved… guaranteed. We’ll keep an eye out for Neuralink every week & report back here in the Muskonomy section.

Gigi said:

“I have to laugh at the Swedish Unions, they're going up against a juggernaut.”

— Right? And it’s one of the better juggernauts out there. I could see a big bad evil corporation taken down, but Tesla? They’ll come out of this as winners.

Judy said:

“Love the Tesla Space newsletter! After reading it, I always feel like I have been communing directly with Zoltar. A totally fascinating and “wonder full” missive that helps me (kinda) keep up with all things Tesla. Looking forwards to more AbFab adventures next week! Thanks, Judy ”

Thanks, Judy. But… what do you mean we kinda help you keep up with all things Tesla. Tell us how to improve, we want to be your one-stop-shop for all things Tesla.

R said:

“Thank you!”

— You’re welcome!

C said:

“The Musk v. OpenAI case is going to be fire! I find that the lawsuit not being recorded is the most disappointing thing all year so far.”

— Actually, it seems there was/is some live audio, streamed live on YouTube. This is the page for the live, but you’ll have to tune in when the court is in session to catch it, no recordings.

N said:

“Despite the news, I'm still waiting for a Tesla charge station between CDA, Idaho, and St. Regis, Montana, or Kalispell, Montana. Preferably in Kingston, Idaho.”

— Time to gather up the community and get you a charger voted on in the next Supercharging Voting round?

Thanks, all! See you next week for more,

— Jaan, Ted, and Sean.
