X OF THE WEEK
Elon’s xAI launched Grokipedia.com, a Wikipedia-like online encyclopedia to give the ‘absolute unbiased truth’ on anything.
Elon says:
The goal here is to create an open source, comprehensive collection of all knowledge.
Then place copies of that etched in a stable oxide in orbit, the Moon and Mars to preserve it for the future.
Foundation.”
And then, the X of the week:

Now, if you are unaware, Larry Sanger there is the ex-founder of Wikipedia. He has since been estranged from Wikipedia due to it, in his words, being overtaken by narrative builders. It seems his take is that Grokipedia’s 0.1 version is ‘maybe’ better than Wikipedia.
Elon agrees.
You can also fix mistakes in Grokipedia, highlighting the text, tapping “It’s Wrong,” and sending in your correction (which will be evaluated by Grok itself as far as I can tell).
TESLA Q3 EARNINGS CALL
On Wednesday, Tesla held its Q3 earnings call. I’ve rounded up everything that was interesting to learn from the deck & the following Q&A, but first here are the resources if you want to dig in yourself:
- The Q3 shareholder deck (29- page pdf)
- The Q3 Q&A Webcast with Elon (audio)
- Questions and answers on Say platform.
It was quite a positive call today.
On the very opening of the call, Elon talks about FSD and the Tesla fleet being awakened with it, and then says:
“I feel confident in expanding Tesla's production as quickly as we can. I was reticent to do that until we had clarity on achieving Unsupervised FSD. I think it now makes sense to expand production as fast as we can."
Interesting, ramping up production massively is quite a surprise.
On sales, Tesla wrote in its shareholder deck: "We achieved record deliveries in South Korea, Taiwan, Japan and Singapore and began deliveries of the Model Y in India. South Korea is now our third largest market behind only the U.S. and China, serving as validation of our competitive positioning in a robust EV market. We launched FSD (Supervised) in Australia and New Zealand and continue to prepare for a broader launch in China, pending regulatory approval"
FSD & Robotaxi
Tesla CFO Vaibhav Taneja: "FSD total paid customer base is still only 12% of our fleet."
Elon on FSD: "We'll be adding reasoning in V14.3. What it'll do is drop you off at the entrance of the store and then go find a parking spot. It's going to use reasoning to solve things."
On HW3 owners, Tesla CFO: "We do want to solve autonomy first, and then we will come back with a way to take care of these customers. For what it's worth, my daily commuter is a HW3 car."
Shoutout to the HW3 owners among us here as well, some of you have asked about this. This is the update — they’ll take care of you.
Ashok: Tesla owners cumulatively diven over 6 billion miles on FSD (Supervised).
From the shareholder deck, we see that Tesla owners cumulatively drove over 1.3 billion miles on FSD (Supervised) in Q3 2025, a new quarterly record. That's an average of 14.1 million miles per day (a new all-time high).

Elon on robotaxi: "We do expect to be operating Robotaxi in 8-10 metro areas by the end of the year. We expect to be operating in Nevada, Florida, Arizona by the end of this year." Also, that Tesla is expecting to have no safety drivers in large parts of Austin by the end of this year.
Elon on Tesla's next-gen HW5 (AI5) chip:
"We are actually going to focus TSMC and Samsung on AI5. The chip design is an amazing design. I have spent almost every weekend the last few months with the chip design on AI5. By some metrics, it will be 40X better than AI4. We have a detailed understanding of the entire stack. With AI5, we deleted the legacy GPU. It basically is a GPU. We also deleted the image signal processor; This is a beautiful chip. I've poured so much life energy into this personally. It will be a real winner."
Tesla's AI training capacity hit a new all-time high in Q3 2025:

On the Cybercab, Elon said its going into production in Q2 2026, and now also around 30 job postings around the manufacturing have popped up on its job site.
Optimus:
Elon on Optimus hand: "The new hand is an incredible piece of engineering. We'll have a production intent prototype ready to show off in February or March 2026. Then we're going to be building a 1 million unit production line with hopefully a production start end of 2026. Then we'll do Optimus 4 at 10 million units. Optimus 5...."
Tesla will unveil Optimus version 3 in Q1 2026. Elon: "It won't even seem like a robot. It'll seem like a human in a robot suit. It's seems so real that you'll need to poke it to believe it's an actual robot."
Tesla also says first-generation production lines for Optimus are now being installed in anticipation of volume production.
Solar Roofs & Tesla Energy
Finally, something about solar roofs, too. Tesla says they’ve "begun production of their new residential solar panel in Buffalo. They will be shipping to customers in Q1."
Tesla Energy gross margin hit a new all-time high of 31.4% in Q3 2025, up from the previous all-time high of 30.5% in Q3 2024.
Vaibhav Taneja on Megapack: "We are seeing some headwinds in this business due to tariffs and increased competition."
Elon on Megapack: We have exciting plans for Megapack 4. It will incorporate a lot of what is in a substation and output 35 kilovolts directly. That's the engineering priority for Megapack."
Elon on voting control: "My fundamental concern with regard to how much voting control I have at Tesla is, if I go and build this robot army, can I just be outed in the future. That's the only thing I'm trying to address. Do I still have a strong influence. I don't feel comfortable building that army if I don't have a strong influence."
OTHER TESLA NEWS

Roadster finally incoming?!
Tesla has created its first job listing for specifically this — looking to hire a Manufacturing Engineer to contribute to the concept development & launch of battery manufacturing equipment for its cutting-edge next-generation Roadster vehicle.
Small but a very welcome move from Tesla: Tesla now pauses subscriptions and trials during service visits.

An actual Tesla recall: Tesla is recalling 12,963 vehicles in the U.S. due to a defect in a battery pack component that could lead to a sudden loss of drive power, the U.S. NHTSA said today. The issue is in certain 2025 Model 3 & 2026 Model Y vehicles. Tesla Service will replace the battery pack contactor, free of charge.
Tesla is about officially to launch in Africa, per a job listing for Morocco.
EVENT YOU CAN GO TO: Tesla is hosting an exclusive party at the Tesla Diner to celebrate Dia de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead, on November 1. $140 per person. “Tickets are only available to Tesla Owners and includes 3 drinks. 21+ only.”
"This event is invitation only and will be held upstairs on our Skypad with a live DJ, a full dinner menu including delicious tamales from Tamales by Elena, beverages featuring Tesla Mezcal, face painting, movies and more."
Tesla's Q3 2025 Vehicle Safety Report is out,
“In the 3rd quarter, we recorded one crash for every 6.36 million miles driven in which drivers were using Autopilot technology. For drivers who were not using Autopilot technology, we recorded one crash for every 993,000 miles driven. By comparison, the most recent data available from NHTSA and FHWA (from 2023) shows that in the United States there was an automobile crash approximately every 702,000 miles.”
Tesla Model Y is back at #1 best-selling car in Europe in September (first time this year).
Tesla Shop: Tesla launched a new XX Bomber Jacket for $195 to celebrate 20 years of the company. Here’s Optimus “Dripped Out” (his words not mine)

OPTIMUS

Tesla brought the Cybercab and Optimus to Times Square during Tesla Chair Robyn Denholm's visit to the Nasdaq MarketSite studio — Optimus was handing out candy to people (video here).
Also, Optimus, with the voice of Grok I assume, introduced the Tesla design chief, Franz von Holzhausen, and Kiko Dontchev, VP of launch at SpaceX, during UP. Summit 2025. The video itself is well worth a watch, too.
FSD & ROBOTAXI & SOFTWARE
The robotaxi service in Bay Area now goes to SJC airport.
From the app update source code: Tesla's Robtoaxi app will soon allow you to select your airline, and will help you automatically find the exact terminal and door you need to get to. The app will also guide you from baggage claim directly to the pickup curb.

Reading tip: Ashok shared an article "Tesla's approach to Autonomy", videos of AI learning and good visuals, even their novel view rendering of Gaussian Splats produced by Tesla's neural networks. He also gave a presentation recently on their approach, and here's the full 30-minute presentation “Tesla ICCV 2025 Foundational Model for FSD”.
It basically looks like a live rendering video game for engineers: Tesla has developed a way to generate real-time 3D drivable environments using footage from all 8 cameras on its vehicles. This lets Tesla engineers virtually “drive” inside a fully simulated version of the real world with the goal of improving FSD.
To me, seeing how Tesla is literally building world models to be able to train its models more is something magical.
SUPERCHARGING & ENERGY
Tesla charging shared a cool visual about the ambient temperatures at Superchargers in the world, writing "Tesla Trip Planner adapts to fluctuating temperatures and automatically preconditions your battery for charging, cutting up to 10 minutes off each Supercharger stop."
I swear the amount of data Tesla has that it can play with…
MUSKONOMY
The Boring Company:
The Boring Company is now offering Self-Driving Tesla Model Y rides to the public in the Las Vegas Loop tunnel. "Driver said they soon will be giving rides all the way to the airport."
SpaceX
In 5 years (birthday was Oct 26th), Starlink has gone from 0 to 7M users across 150 countries. Starlink has also increased median Starlink network performance by over 50% since January, with average download speeds now over 200 Mbps.

Neuralink

Neuralink's first participant in the UK has been announced. Neuralink writes:
“He’s now working with our engineers to explore using the implant to play his favorite video games like Dawn of War and perform other tasks that could enrich and restore autonomy in his daily life. This marks an important step toward making our technology available to help people around the world.”
PS — did you see the video earlier this month where patient Nick was able to control a robotic arm to feed himself?
Neuralink says: “ALS took Nick’s arm mobility. Now, he can control a robotic arm with his Neuralink device to feed himself.”
Nick says: “Life with my BCI has been and continues to be so surreal and so rewarding. Can’t wait to see what comes next!”

COMMUNITY CORNER
We’re done for today! We strive to be the most value-packed and concise Tesla-related newsletter out there. How did we do?
FEEDBACK: What do you think of today's issue?
Another 100% “👍” last week. All of you reading diligently and leaving me your thoughts really inspire me before I sit down and write another newsletter to you every week. Here are some of you who left replies:
Robert wrote:
“The newsletter keeps getting more and more a source of information that I find inspirational compared to other businesses’ total lack of advanced research and development (they rhyme with going). Thank you for sharing. And thanks to Jaan.”
— Thank you for the kind words! We try to keep you as up-to-date as possible with as much research to get to the facts as needed. 🙏
Sephyray wrote:
“Hey, any news on Tesla SUV?”
— Nope :( I do wonder if we’ll get a teaser about it at the Shareholder Meeting on Nov 6th
Rick said:
“I want to buy a cybercab! I want it because it’s small & just a 2 seater! Maybe I could get it sooner in my small town in MO, if it came with a steering wheel & pedals. And then later get the self-driving turned on”
— It’s actually rather crazy how much demand the cybercab form factor would have as an actual driveable vehicle with steering wheel and pedals. Elon did promise it to be available for purchase on 10/10 event, but without being able to drive it yourself.
Sandy wrote:
“Very informative for a newcomer to read. Thank you very much!”
— Welcome to the family, Sandy!
— … and I thought I was sending long emails to you. Just kidding, thanks E for the input, and while I do think Tesla has perfected the glue situation over time (remember Cybertruck cantrail), it does make you think…
E said:
“Normally I lean towards the Star Ship section of your newsletter, but this week it was 50/50 between the successful Eleventh Launch video & the Tesla”
— I’m glad we were able to make the rest catch your attention as well there.
David said:
“Any time I want to know something about Tesla or anything else in Elon's universe I know exactly where to come.”
— Exactly why we’ve built this, you can count on us! 🫡
GW said:
“Can we get a recipe? 😉 -G”
— 👨🍳 If you’re talking about my wife’s cookie cake that I referred to last week, I’ll have to ask if she’s okay sharing it. It’s very simple, but delicious.
See you next week for more,
— Jaan, Ted, and Sean.
