Welcome to the Tesla Space newsletter, our 102nd issue.
Happy upcoming Thanksgiving if you celebrate.
If not… happy Black Friday or something 😅
Before we kick off the newsletter, we have an offer for you of our own, too.
We thought we’d just go out and give you a… one hundred percent off the Tesla Space Insider membership. Grab it now and enjoy it for free for 30 days.
How it works:
Here is a link to activate a 100% discount for the Insider membership for 30 days on our monthly and yearly plans.
That’s it.
You can cancel anytime before the 30 days are done.
It’s easy, and we’ll send how-to instructions & a reminder as well.
I know most people call this type of thing a “trial” usually, but I think a 100% discount for a month sounded a lot better, plus we don’t plan to repeat this offer.
You’ll also get the full Insider-exclusive Robotaxi Report that I’m sending out next week, showing the global scale of robotaxi partnerships, rollouts, and where Tesla places with its plans.
In today’s newsletter:
Tesla enters Colombia 🇨🇴
Elon says legacy auto doesn’t want to license FSD;
Elon says Tesla expects to build AI chips at higher volumes than all other AI chips combined;

X OF THE WEEK
Elon, on legacy automakers still not wanting to go autonomous:

TESLA NEWS

Tesla launched in Colombia, its second country in South America.
Tesla has now officially launched the order pages in Colombia, with test drives available in Medellín and Bogotá starting tomorrow. The first Supercharging location is in development in Medellín as well.
The Tesla Colombia ordering pages is now live for Model Y and Model 3. The pricing, in US dollars, would start at ~$29,300 for Model 3 and $32,000 for Model Y. The deliveries are expected in Feb-Mar 2026. Tesla launched a new X account @Tesla_LatAm for Tesla Latinoamérica
Colombia itself is a great target for Tesla — it was, after all, the market with the highest EV growth in the first half of 2025… in the world! As per my H1 2025 Global EV Sales Report, EV sales there grew +203.3% in the first half of 2025, tripling its EV sales with 7,292 delivered, and taking the #1 EV growth market position this year. The EV market share jumped to 7% of all car sales in the country.
Elon is doubling down on AI chips, and writes, among other things:
"Most people don’t know that Tesla has had an advanced AI chip and board engineering team for many years. [...] We expect to build chips at higher volumes ultimately than all other AI chips combined. Read that sentence again, as I’m not kidding."
He also wrote:
"FWIW, I’m deeply involved in the chip design and meet with the engineering team every Tuesday and Saturday. The Saturday meetings are short-term and will no longer be needed in a few months when AI5 is taped out."
Ashok adds:
"Not to mention, these chips are heavily co-designed with the Tesla AI software teams to achieve incredible performance, while also beating by a large margin on perf per Watt and perf per dollar. For instance, AI4 can process and understand a million pixels of streaming video within ~1 ms. This is only achievable because the software AND the hardware are designed together to achieve this performance point."
So Elon sees Tesla is at the gigafactory situation yet again.
Not enough (good) batteries for our EVs in the world?
We'll build gigafactory ourselves.
Not enough fast charging for our EVs?
We'll build Supercharging network ourselves.
Exactly the same game, just new level.
Also in the shortlist:
Tesla seems to be expanding its rental program all over the US now, per new "Rental Readiness Specialist" job listings popping up.
🇳🇴 With over a month left, Tesla has now broken an almost decade-long record by becoming the brand with the most vehicles registered in a single year in Norway.
New Model Y receives 5-star rating from Euro NCAP testing body.
Tesla is hosting Holiday Celebration parties at select showrooms across the U.S., where they will be giving FSD (Supervised) demo drives.
“Bring along your whole family to enjoy hot cocoa and festive activities, including FSD (Supervised) demo drives, limited-edition Tesla toy giveaways and more. We'll also be accepting food and toy donations to benefit Toys for Tots and a local food drive.”

Giga Berlin is also already in a Christmas mood:

Tesla has released the new Model Y Performance in Canada. Starting price is $74,990 CAD. Deliveries start in Q1 2026.
Resisting the urge to say “can’t park there, mate”:

Happened today in the morning in NC mountains (source), nobody harmed
The Tesla Shop now has a Gold water bottle available for $45

FSD & ROBOTAXI & SOFTWARE
Tesla has officially received approval from the Arizona Department of Transportation to launch its Robotaxi service on public roads in the state.
Tesla has also completed Nevada’s self-certification process for its robotaxi. So Tesla can now deploy and operate autonomous vehicles on public roads in the state, but needs another license to operate a commercial robotaxi service.
Tesla adds a new country for FSD: South Korea
Tesla announced on November 11 that Full Self-Driving (Supervised) would make it to South Korea "soon." Just 12 days later, it has arrived.
Rollout starts with FSD V14.1.4 on Model S&X (video). This is the 7th country for FSD(S)

Tesla FSD Europe — February 2026?
Tesla has also gone on offensive on FSD regulation in Europe: official Tesla Europe account posted about this:
"We have given FSD demos to regulators of almost every EU country. We have requested early access, pilot release programs or exemptions where possible.
We have developed & shared detailed safety evidence for FSD, now public in our latest Safety Report. And we have driven over 1 million kilometers safely on EU roads across 17 different countries (internal testing). Our main path to success is partnering with the Dutch approval authority RDW to gain exemption for the feature. This involves proving compliance with existing regulations (UN-R-171 DCAS) + filing an exemption (EU Article 39) for yet-to-be-regulated behaviors like Level 2 systems off-highway, system-initiated lane changes with hands-off the wheel etc.”
Essentially they are sharing a contact link to RDV to "to express your excitement & thank them for making this happen as soon as possible. Upon NL National approval, other EU countries can immediately recognize the exemption and also allow rollout within their country. Then we will bring it to a TCMV vote for official EU-wide approval."
Tesla stated that “Currently, RDW has committed to granting Netherlands National approval in February 2026.”
Now, RDW replied to people basically saying “thanks but don’t spam us anymore”. The reply also has some great explanations so I’ll put it all here:

Watch tip: 7 minutes of Tesla FSD stopping for animals.
Elon says: "14.3 is where the last big piece of the puzzle finally lands".
SUPERCHARGING

The first third-party Tesla Superchargers in North America were installed by Suncoast Charging in Land O’ Lakes, Florida.
This is where the hardware is supplied and managed by Tesla, but the site is owned and operated by some other charging network. Tesla says: “By purchasing your own Superchargers, you get the technology, reputation and industry knowledge that we’ve acquired from over a decade of managing Supercharger operations.”
I love what they did with the wraps!
MILESTONE: Tesla installs its 75,000th Supercharger!
The Glacier Blue wrap marks the milestone 75,000th Supercharger which was deployed in Tasmania, Australia. It fits in well with the Glacier Blue Model Y (picture & the car by Mark Davis, Tesla Store Manager in Hobart, Tasmania, where this charger was deployed):

Stellantis gives in and adopts Tesla's NACS - but not only for the US — for the Japan & South Korea markets too.

MUSKONOMY
SpaceX:
SpaceX's first Starship Super Heavy version 3 rocket booster did pre-launch testing... and... crumpled/imploded/exploded (short video here). And here is what was left of it:

SpaceX’s statement:

SpaceX also said they’re sticking with the schedule despite this: "The Starbase team plans to have the next Super Heavy booster stacked in December, which puts it on pace with the test schedule planned for the first Starship V3 vehicle and associated ground systems. Starship’s twelfth flight test remains targeted for the first quarter of 2026."
Starlink Direct to Cell is now available in 🇨🇱 Chile, the first Latin American country to make this technology available to customers. The Direct to Cell is now also available in 🇺🇦 Ukraine, the first such in Europe. This allows people to send SMS even without mobile network coverage.
The Boring Company

Boring Company shared: “On a rainy day in Bastrop, Prufrock-5 has left the factory. Will begin tunneling by December 1. Hoping for a step function increase in speed.”
The Boring Company tunnel in Las Vegas has now moved more than 3.5 million people through the Vegas Loop since it came online in 2021.
TBC President Steve Davis says they could cut tunneling costs to about $3-4M per mile within 2–5 years, and is at ~$10M per mile today. For comparison, traditional tunneling projects cost $500M to $3B per mile, depending on its size, complexity and location, and $3-$4M is about what it costs to build one mile of above-ground highway.
The Boring Company will open its first tunnel to Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas in Q1 2026, transporting up to 20,000 people per hour for 50-80% lower cost than an Uber. Cost for passengers:
Downtown → Airport: $12 (8 min ride)
Airport → Las Vegas Convention Center: $10 (5 min ride)
TBC comments: “Exciting! Phase 1 (targeting Q1 2026): First Airport rides with the vehicles traveling through Loop tunnels and surfacing just north of Airport.
Phase 2 (TBD): Vehicles surface at Loop Station at Airport terminals.”
Boring Company shares pictures: "Prufrock-MB1 has shipped from Bastrop to Nashville, and is currently being assembled. Prufrock-MB2 ships in January."
Listening tip: Long discussion about Boring Company progress
xAI:
Here is the full interview with Elon Musk and Jensen Huang at the 2025 U.S.-Saudi Investment Forum.
xAI will be building a 500MW datacenter in Saudi Arabia in partnership with Nvidia.
Elon also said on the interview: "Space is overwhelmingly what matters; If you want to have something that is 1 million times more energy than Earth could possibly produce, you must go into space. That is where it's handy to have a space company."

Uncle F said:
“I am a 82 year old Military disabled 23 years of service, widdower. I live in AZ and my closest town is Yuma. How can I get a test drive? I am interested in a lower-priced model. I am on a very skimpy retirement budget. I have two goals left in life. An electric vehicle I can afford and seeing us get back on the Moon and getting to Mars :-).”
— Hey Uncle F. Sounds like a plan! You can find the closest Tesla test drive opportunity and book it on the tesla.com/drive site, just pop in your location and it’ll find the closest option for you. Some locations, such as Mesa, AZ showroom even offer 24-hour and 48-hour test drives.
