Important note: the Semi Rollout Event at Tesla's new Semi factory in Sparks, Nevada is today, September 24, and Tesla is livestreaming it at 6 PM PT (9 PM ET)!

A group of the world's largest shippers has made the largest electric truck order in US history, ordering 2,500 battery-electric Class 8 trucks in one go to hit the US roads. Tesla was picked as the only primary manufacturer, with Kenworth, RIDE and Volvo named as secondary OEMs that carriers can pick instead.

The order runs through ZET SCALE, a new private-sector alliance jointly operated by Catalyst Mobility (the nonprofit formerly called CALSTART) and the Smart Freight Centre. The Alliance's ambition runs to 10,000 trucks and beyond.

No split between the four truckmakers has been published anywhere, so treat any Tesla-specific count you see as somebody's guess.

R.R. Plett Trucking is preparing to install Canada's first Tesla Megawatt Charging System chargers, with two 1.2-megawatt sites planned for Langley and Kamloops, British Columbia.

The company expects to receive 12 Tesla Semi trucks in June 2027 and says the new chargers will allow the trucks to move toward double-shift operations.

Grok Bot is now live in Tesla vehicles.

It sits inside the existing Grok voice interface, not as a separate app. You can check your email, manage your calendar or order something online just by talking to the car.

For now it is limited to SuperGrok Heavy subscribers, with other tiers to follow. Connectors, which link services like Gmail to Grok, are open to all users and get set up in the Grok app. I already found that Spencer was able to get his FSD to pull over through just the voice on Grok in his Tesla, through a connector he made.

That’s something I’m sure that we’ll see Tesla develop sometime soon as a native integration too.

The unveil event is on October 1st

Ahead of the October 1 reveal, Tesla has reopened Roadster reservations. It takes a $5,000 card payment up front, then a $45,000 wire transfer within 10 days. Same as before. And the price is still not set:

“The estimated purchase price of the vehicle, if provided, is only an estimate. We are still working on what options, features and hardware the vehicle will have and so cannot confirm the exact price just yet."

The FAA has also placed a temporary flight restriction over SpaceX's McGregor test site near Waco from September 18 to October 2, covering a 1.5 nautical mile (2.8 km) radius from the ground up to 10,000 feet (3,048 m).

Tesla has built its first Cybercab powered by cathode material made in-house, folding one of the most expensive and most Asia-dependent steps in battery manufacturing into the same Texas complex that builds the car.

Tesla's official Robotaxi account announced the milestone on X, crediting the car to what it called the first large-scale cathode plant in the Americas. Bonne Eggleston, Tesla's VP for its 4680 battery program, highlighted that this is just the first of many:

Tesla's FSD Supervised is now cleared for Czech roads,

making Czechia the seventh European Union country to approve the advanced driver-assist system.

The approval lands about two weeks before the EU's Technical Committee on Motor Vehicles votes on bloc-wide authorization on October 6, which could open all 27 member states to FSD Supervised.

Tesla Europe confirmed the approval on X, noting that rollout to Czech customers will begin soon:

Czechia joins the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, Belgium, and Slovenia on the list of EU countries that have individually cleared FSD Supervised.

The Texas DMV registry now lists 69 Cybercabs in Tesla's robotaxi fleet, up from 58 on September 19.

Today is the Supercharging network’s 14th birthday.

In the 14 years, it has expanded globally to ~85,000 Supercharger stalls at ~9,000 locations. 🤯

Electric Son's first Houston Supercharger for Business site (the ones where the third party buys the Superchargers to deploy on their grounds) pairs 325 kW charging with an all-electric coffee truck. The Coffee Fellows’ coffee truck will be there every weekday from 7am to 2pm!

Sunrun and Tesla sent 580 MW from home batteries to California's grid during the September 9 heat wave, over a three-hour evening window. Around 110,000 Tesla Powerwalls supplied 517 MW of it, and other batteries the remaining 63 MW.

SpaceX is now targeting as early as Monday, September 28 for Starship Flight 14, pending regulatory approval. It is meant to be the first Starship to reach orbit and the first to deploy satellites: 26 next-generation Starlink V3s.

Booster 21 and Ship 41 have both rolled out to the pad at Starbase:

NASA has also ordered three more crew flights from SpaceX for $946 million, Crew-15 to Crew-17, which takes SpaceX to 17 missions under the contract.

And United says it has flown more than 31 million passengers on Starlink-equipped aircraft across more than 464,000 flights, with NFL games now on the seatback screens.

As you saw in our video this week, Elon says the Boring Company is working on a precursor Hyperloop tunnel between Austin and San Antonio, at over 200 mph (320 km/h):

Earlier this month, the company also raised $3 billion at a $23 billion valuation in a round led by the UAE, and says it now plans more than 150 km (93 miles) of tunnels there, on top of the Dubai Loop.
