Tesla enables direct integration with DIMO

Tesla enables direct integration with DIMO in a win for open connected mobility: how to update your car
In a significant move for the connected mobility space, Tesla has enabled a direct integration with DIMO, making them the first automaker to do so. Where many automakers struggle with issues of security, privacy, and openness, Tesla continues to lead the way by officially supporting robust connections with open mobility platforms. Tesla drivers will now be able to seamlessly manage their connection to DIMO via their Tesla app or infotainment system and continue earning rewards for simply having their vehicle connected to the network.
For Tesla drivers, this collaboration brings several benefits, including fine-grained permission control, access to additional commands within the DIMO app (such as opening doors, unlocking the trunk, etc.), and advanced widgets for better car health tracking.
This signifies a major step forward, as it marks the beginning of automakers like Tesla opening up their codebases for integration with third party car platforms such as DIMO. As an industry leader, it is no surprise that Tesla is the first to embrace direct data integration, and there is optimism that more automakers will soon follow suit.
With the majority of DIMO's connected vehicles being Teslas—currently numbering over 20,000—this collaboration with Tesla is an exciting first step in what is hoped to be a long-term partnership to further improve and innovate the driving experience.
Next Steps for Tesla Drivers on DIMO
For the Tesla drivers already connected to DIMO, we are grateful for your support and for playing a part in this journey. To upgrade and remain linked to DIMO, simply open up the DIMO app and reestablish your connection by tapping your Tesla in the garage tab.
You will then be guided through the reconnection process. As part of the first step you will be prompted to sign in to your Tesla account.
The final step is adding a virtual key. Have your Tesla app downloaded and be sure to be logged in. From the DIMO app, you will be redirected to the Tesla page where you can approve the virtual key by pressing Finish Setup. Congrats you have finished reconnecting your Tesla! It will take 24 hours for your connection to be re-established.
We appreciate you taking the time to reconnect your vehicle and being a part of the DIMO community. It is recommended to complete reconnection by October 31 to avoid missing out on rewards. Past that date, Teslas that haven’t gone through the above reconnection process will lose their connection to the DIMO Network and as such will not be eligible for weekly baseline rewards.
