Self-Diagnosis App Launched!

When a vehicle breaks down, it’s often more than trouble for just the owner. The technician searching for the exact issue often doesn’t have much to go on aside from their experience with the vehicle type, and whatever the owner can tell them - which often isn’t much.

Well, Tesla has decided to remedy that. As part of the EV company’s push for better service, a self-diagnostic feature has been added to the Tesla Smartphone App. Here’s how it works:

When a driver detects their vehicle might need service, normally they’d open the app and schedule an appointment with the nearest Tesla Service Center. Now, when a driver does this, the Self-Diagnostics feature will check the vehicle over and see what - if any - issues exist.

Not only that, but the feature is designed to find the specific issues, and prompt the driver to include any photos they can so the technician is prepared in advance of the scheduled appointment.

This sort of solution is a huge help in streamlining the whole process. The driver can now be certain something is wrong - and what specifically is wrong; and the technician gets an accurate, organised breakdown of the issues they need to focus on.

Taking the guesswork out of repairs will save a tonne of time, helping Tesla achieve the goal of CEO Elon Musk to have Tesla Services solve two-thirds of vehicle issues in the same day.

This is really only possible because of the interconnectivity of Tesla’s systems. It’s very cool to see them develop technology that gives their users so much information - and therefore control - over their vehicles. Other companies should follow suit.
